Job Announcement
Location: Casper, WY (home office). Fieldwork in Central Wyoming, the Bighorn Mountains, and the Bighorn Basin in Natrona, Washakie, and Bighorn Counties.
Schedule: June 18 – August 31, 2018. 40 hours/week. No work is scheduled for July 4,5,6 and 13. Other days may be determined at a later date.
Pay Range: $15 to $20/hour depending on experience.
Terms: Employee will be considered part-time and would receive no paid vacation or sick leave. Employee would be covered by the State of Wyoming Workers Compensation and Unemployment Insurance.
This is an entry-level Forest Technician position assisting a professional Forester and another Forestry Technician with forest management fieldwork activities. Fieldwork will be in a variety of settings including high elevation spruce-fir forest types, pine-juniper lower elevation forest, and riparian area forest vegetation types.
Tasks will include use of a chainsaw and other forest management tools and will require prior use of these types of tools. Work will require employee to be in good physical condition and willing to work long days in adverse weather and terrain. There may be some need for employee to assist in document preparation for such things as work plans and forest assessments. A familiarity with ArcGIS 10.5 is desired but not required.
This work will mean a great deal of time camping at or near project locations in remote areas. A familiarity with outdoor skills is essential. The successful candidate will have his/her own tent, sleeping bag, and other equipment needed for extended periods of camping.
